    Uncle T47b: My missus bought me a drill for xmas, a couple of years back (De Walt jobbie, quite impressed) and I was chuffed to bits. However, if I bought her an iron, I think she'd be upset. Why is that?

    My drill wasn't even a De Walt - JCB job. Shyyyt. If she was going to buy me a drill or something at least let me choose it.

    Then again, they use Makita at work and they are pretty rubbish so perhaps I'm setting standards too high.

    I have a JCB "driver". I think it's quite good. I can put rusty screws into sticks in no time at all.

    Apparently, Makita aren't what they used to be. Just like Toyotas.

    TBF, it's quite powerful but the chuck design is rubbish - no matter how much you do it up by hand the bit still comes loose. It sounds horrible but you have to plier tighten them in.

    We have granite walls here at home so the drill does need some oooomph. It does the job but it's not making life as easy as it could be.
