When did this become a thing?

I'm undecided but slightly on the side of being able to rock it

Pffft - we were doing it back in the 80's with Sidi Fluo socks.

Until their elastic went anyway, but it was a fashionable month as I recall.

I didn't know it was a thing, but more often than not my socks don't match ... its not a fashion thing, I just have a billion socks and one always wears out before the other, so I throw 1 away .. and now I am blessed with a draw full of miss matched socks

I've got used to cycling gear with different coloured bands or writing on different sides, so those don't strike me as being out of the question. As long as they are both the same length and from the same colour palette obv.

I'm sure at some stage there'll be an article claiming differential turbulence due to the chainset, and that to minimise the effect it's necessary to wear a knee length sock on the non-drive side leg only. Triathletes probably. Willing to pay £80 for a single sock crafted from some wonder material which mimics the skin of a shark.

I should get a job in Marketing

I have already decided to eschew white or black socks this year as being, well, predictable and dull.

Bought a load of quite colourful ones last week so I'm willing to give some other brands a go. These look ok. Some of them. The Morvelo Kriss Kross will be bought at some point and Primal have a few decent ones.

What other really good makers are there? The Pedla ones I reviewed have lasted well, but the pink one has gone all washed out.

For an easy life I buy black socks now - I can use them for the office or on the bike. (they aren't all black).

And never less than three matching pairs at a time. Life is too short for hunting odd socks down.

The Grimpeur ones look OK - terrible with the jersey and arm warmers though.

I thought it was a sign of getting dressed in the dark, although being unable to find jersey pockets because it's inside out is more irritating.

well I figure that few people get to see both my socks at the same time as they are either side of a bike and rotating, so no one is going to care

and if I get off the bike and mince about a coffee shop or hang about waiting for a shower at work the lycra will disturb people more than the socks

Did have to double check with Giro that my non-match ones from The Athletic Co are meant to be one blue, one yellow, but they are.

    They look good.

Big fan of the burgeoning sock market in cycling, no quicker way to ruin a decent look than some sports direct ankle socks.

Pongo are a current favourite of mine.

I like the socks but £14 quid a pair

Will have to search for cheap knock off hipster socks on ebay

The best socks I have atm are merino aldi cycling socks that were £2.99 wish id bought more but they only had 1 pair left

I quite like those tic socks, the arm warmers are nice too. Current favourites would be the dafeet socks, they do some very bright designs plus varying lengths to suit your level of flamboyancy!
  • I'm joining this club today, about to put on a pair of On One Thinnies, but they both have the logo on the left... They are not a pair!

DHb Bolc socks rock - other than that its woolie bollies or PX merino thicky. No other socks cut it.

We've actually started doing different shoes - so long as the stack height is the same it's well cool.

Duh!! If you give Bont a wheelbarrow full of cash, they will make you an odd pair of your own choosing.

my socks match today ... being Madison ones with fluorescent tops to them the wife can easily identify them as a pair so they get balled together

I don't mind some that are discreetly odd but some of them are just plain wrong.

Leisure lakes have the Madison, so I might take a punt at the yellow and orange ones.
