Continually getting pop-ups telling me I've won a prize. Can't avoid clicking the 'ok' button on them, as even killing Chrome doesn't work (re-opening browser takes me back to same ad with no way to close tab)

Getting horrific pop-ups / redirects on the site with fake virus warnings etc. Pretty sure I'm not even clicking on anything when it happens, redirects are difficult to back out of too. Please fix this, it is really poor site management.

Maybe I'll just use my pc more often rather than my phone, cos then I can run you-know-what blocker ;-)
  • Hi Both,

Sorry about that, can you include URLs, what browser and what device you are using. I can then forward to ad ops to get them banned.

Please appreciate that ads pay for the site and using an ad blocker is actually a threat to the future of free websites.

    Cheers!

    Josh.

I'm seeing delayed final load symptoms of the old problem back (browser says it's about 99% loaded for 3 to 4 minutes) despite appearing fully loaded.
Not had an instance of a pop up yet, but not holding my breath....

As Bompington says, it's not when you click on anything - just happens for me when I scroll down the page. Not seeing it on pc, just on mobile. Just now, I clicked on the 'flat classics' thread and it threw up a porn ad - 100% not happening in any other site for me, just this one

Scrolling triggered the last lot too, especially when signed out.

I think the address was something like apps dot security555 dot com. Real old fashioned flashing, shaking scare ads - it is disgraceful that any professionally managed site should get this kind of thing, especially hijacking the browser when I didn't even click on anything.

I've had similar today when connected via train wifi so without content filtering

I've had this numerous times now, getting virus-like pop-ups on this site but nowhere else. I'm assuming the site has been compromised so I'll be avoiding the forum for a while.
  • We're struggling to recreate the pop ups/ads. Until we find the source of the content, we cannot block them from our servers.

Any screenshots, URL etc. will be helpful. Thanks for your patience on this.

hmmm i should be able to find the popped up site if that's of any use?

  • itboffin, yes please! I've sent over a few, but everything will help.

Will also need to know the device and whether you were on cellular data or wifi at the time.

    Cheers!

I've had this problem on both BT broadband and vodafone 4G.
  • Thanks, bompington.

  • Are you sure that the fizik custom saddle advert which appears in the top banner complies to the standard for flashing advertising images, I dont think it does? I am slightly sensitive to such flashing images and, it is affecting me.
  • Hi Paul Onabike,

Have forwarded on your message and will get back to you.

    Thanks,

That's my lunchtime visits to this site curtailed. Just had the eBau advert start playing audio automatically. Too intrusive for the office.

Can't be believe we are dealing with this all over again.

So now I am getting a video banner at the top of the page that is jumped to repeatedly while I am typing a message!

This has gone beyond the ridiculous, it's clear that BR is now just an advertising channel.

I'm getting this too, and when the video ad is loading it really slows down my laptop. This is beyond an advert- it's an invasion of privacy.

In the last few days, reading threads has often become infuriating, because of these top of page web banners auto-scrolling the page focus to the top... Sometimes I'm having a battle with the auto-scrolling, trying to get back to the vague area I was reading, to then have the auto-scroll kick in again and again!

I've not tried disabling Flash yet for this site, but if this isn't sorted out soon, I will be forced to take such measures... And then I won't see any adverts that may cause me to click a link from BR, which means the potential income source becomes useless.

Sorry to say that I enabled Adblock Plus on BR website ages ago after the site repeatedly became unusable for weeks at a time. Doesn't affect me as badly on mobile though, if that helps.

Please ditch the video ad that keeps pulling the page back to the top. Every time it appears I have no choice but to close the page and leave the site. It's hardly productive for Bike Radar is it.
The Ad that does this is for a Swindon fashion outlet. Not had it for any other advertiser.

I can no longer read the bikeradar home page as I have a d b l o c k e r installed. I won't go to pages that are unreadable due to ads. I know people need to get paid, but do advertisers know who is blocking and who is not? Anyways, I won't be turning blocker off and read road cc instead. If same policy comes to forum too, that will be the end of that too. Bike Radar home content isn't good enough to justify ads imho.

  • So much for now having to select which country and currency you want to see the adverts and junk in. It still doesn't work and all the links to retailers show $.

Bike Radar has lost the place
