I have a 2010 Specialized Hardrock MTB. Whenever I was in the smallest rear cog it kept jumping and upon looking it was clear that the rear cassette was damaged around this cog. I have replaced the rear cassette and fitted a new chain whilst I was at it but I'm still experiencing the same problem. It only jumps when it is in the smallest rear cog and there are no issues with the other 7 rear cogs or the front 3 cogs????

Have you checked the gears are adjusted correctly ot that the hanger is not bent?

It sounds like your gears may need indexing. There are plenty of 'how to' videos and guides on the web. e.g. HERE
