Lake Como - Where to stay?

Need some help!
Looking to ride Lake Como area June 2018.
Seems to be very, very few hotels/places to stay, specific to cyclist???
Looking for somewhere of very good/high standards.
4 retired chaps, celebrating 50th birthday.
Any ideas?

I think you'll struggle to find a cycling specific hotel although most will be accommodating. We have a place in Menaggio and it's ideally placed for riding around the area. It's in the central triangle of ferries so if you're half way around you can nip across back to base.
You can also head out towards lake Lugano from the western shore.Advocate of disc brakes.0 -
Sorry can't help with the accommodation but a few years ago I stayed in Como on the same night Perry Como died. Spooky eh?0

Whatever you do make sure you go over to Bellagio and do the climb up to Ghisallo and visit the cycling shrine!0

I stayed in a bike hotel in Bormio last summer, and would highly recommend it. Somewhere to keep your bike, with all the tools you'll need to service it. They washed you kit over night. The food was plentiful, and you're at the bottom of the Stelvio, whats not to like?

This one... Apparently I missed the hardest part of the climb as you carry on past the chapel as I found out when I got back to the UK. So I need to do it all again.

Quite possibly but to be honest you'll find Bellagio overpriced and being in the centre of the lake you either have to take a ferry out or ride one of the legs of the lake to find an alternative route.

I was in the Lake Como area last September and, unfortunately, had my riding cut short by a bad fall descending down the switchbacks below Sormano on the south side of the Ghisallo. Later, after getting back to Canada, X-rays showed a fractured clavicle so there was more than just road rash. The area is truly spectacular whether you're out on the water in a ferry or high up looking down. The Ghisallo climb from Bellagio looked to be (from driving it a couple of times) a good test and there were plenty of cyclists on it- likewise on the south side. But the road is fairly narrow and twisty and there appeared to be a good amount of vehicle traffic as well so not necessarily a quiet ride out in the mountains. I obviously didn't get a good chance to ride the area but there is a fair amount of traffic on most of the roads and definitely those that go along the lake. You could do some research and probably find some more quiet routes. I would say a good place to spend a few days and then move on to Bormio to experience some of the iconic passes of the Giro.0
