Anyone planning on NOT riding tomorrow because of the forecasted high winds?

    they are going to get stronger .... arse, yesterday and today was a slog in with the front wheel being whipped away from me ... cant cope with another journey like that

    but yes I'll be riding in .... however I am in Bristol, and we have a Weather buffer that tries to neutralise any weather, from 30deg and sunny to blizzards and out put it to a 10deg, 10mph wind, light drizzle

    I expect it wont be that bad here !

    oh .... BBC say 50mph for Bristol

    Hee heeee ... hmm, the single speed has drops .... but only the one gear ..... they hybrid, flat bars but 10 gears

    do I go drops to stay out the wind, or gears to allow me to spin ???? ... crap I need a N+1 by tomorrow morning .. anyone ?

    eBike spits in the face of wind :D However, I'm wfh tomorrow...

    On another note, as the storm names are down to public preference and Doris was accepted, I think we should try for Eachthighearn (Irish for Horse Lord) and other long/complicated names to make it fun for weather presenters

    I'll probably surf the tailwind on the way to work, then take a backstreet route home and take it very easy.

    I'm out, but only cos I have exams to mark. Rode in today to collect them. Mega dampness. Ride home will be tricky even today.

    I went out last night and that was a gruelling outward slog into the wind, an interesting tack to the North with a crosswind trying to send me across the road at every gap in the hedge, then a brilliant final 7 miles all with a stonking tailwind.

    Doing some more grouting in the kitchen tonight, and out for dinner with work on Thurs...

    how do you guys get tail winds ..... I seem to get headwind going to work, then a head wind coming back home ... it is out to get me I swear !

    It's a headwind in for me, found it tiring this morning but might Strava going home tonight! In 2 minds about tomorrow, I'll probably give it a go if it's not hacking it down as well. I'm out the door at 5.30am so according to the forecasts I should be ahead of the strongest stuff.

    I get a tailwind by looking at the forecast for the wind direction, then planning a route that sees me cycling in to it for a gruelling but character building hour, then blasting back home in 20 minutes :D

    Doesnt matter which way you ride there is always a headlwind.

    As another Essex boy I will be getting headwinds in the morning - but 50mph might be too much. Plus central line will probably still be delayed due to today's disruption. Main downer is that it won't be a proper tailwind by the time I go home

    not around here there isn't .... I have just been out side which ever way I face its blowing right in my face ... .it defies all laws

    looks like it started here overnight, 40+ mph winds for the morning, lovely!

    Last Monday's easterly was quite horrible though. My average (average) is about 17 mph. Best about 22.

    i'm looking out of my kitchen window right now and the fine rain mist is sort of drifting in waves like you see on movies when the special effects budget isnt quite so special

    its that mist that will get everywhere and soak you to the bone in seconds

    Only wind in the north east we have that plus, an orange snow warning, a yellow snow morning and a yellow rain warning. So i expect to moving more quickly than the cars especially with the tail wind to work. Trip home looks a tad more interesting.

    Storm X = KOM weather.
    I might ride in, might not (haven't all week) but I'll take the singlespeed so no KOMs for me. Depends on how wet it is rather than the wind tbh.

    Everything is in the wash/airing cupboard now. Even my water resistant shoes needed tipping out. Ghastly damp. Wind picking up now as well.

    I've got a busted thumb (as well as assorted road rash) from an 'off' on the Friday commute. I've been using the shopping bike for commuting as it's sit up and beg and no pressure on my hand. However I may well decide on discretion tomorrow as it will be like riding with a sail and quite frankly I'm already getting enough stick from everyone for carrying on riding in this condition.
