How strenuous is Blue Scar? I'm thinking of taking the nipper for her first mountain bike ride but not sure if it mighte be a bit much climbing. Is it much tougher than Verderers?

The climbing is more concentrated than Verderers, which seems to be a bit up and down all the way. Most of the climbing is at the front of Blue Scar. It's a bit of hard work but not killer. And it's a nice ride back down once you get there. Your offspring will probably love it.

Penhydd, on the other hand just seems to be endless climbing and I'm not sure it's worth the effort.
All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

My boy loves doing blue scar we get off and push up some of the fire road. The second decent is worth it fast flowing and not too technical hes ten we did penhydd last weekend and he made me take him back up to do blue scar before we left

i'd say that yes. it's tougher than verderers, but I guess it depends on how fit your child is. the climb up isn't technical, but it is a fairly long drag compared to the main climb at FoD

Thanks. We'll give it a bash. She'll be alright.
