After messing up my helmet (along with trousers, jacket, gloves and face) in a tumble at the weekend I'm in the market for a new lid.
I know I need to buy one that fits properly but beyond that does anyone have any bargain (upto £40) recomendations or any to specifically avoid!

I've heard only good things about the Giro Foray, I believe Bender on here did a review and apparently he found it for like £28 or something mad like that or for just shy of 50 for the MIPS version, might be worth a look.

    EDIT: https://roubaixcycling.cc/2016/12/09/giro-foray-helmet/
Link to Bender's review with the links to the helmets. I'm seriously considering getting one myself at that price, even if my current helmet is fine...

I'm considering a new helmet, narrowed it down to Giro Foray or Kask Rapido. Which is the better option? (they both fit by the way...)

I wouldn't get that one - the picture clearly shows it has no chinstraps

I bought a Rapido in the summer as a 'spare' helmet. It's now by far my favourite- fits brilliantly, vents are great in the summer and it's super comfy
  • The Foray is ridiculously good for the price. I have a Synthe as well now though, MIPS, paid £120.

Bit of a one off, got Wiggle to price match last one somewhere else. But, if you are happy with a blue one

I just bought a Bontrager Ballista MIPS for 140. Seems to be well reviewed. Used to have an Evade but Bontrager offer 100% crash replacement in first year of ownership.

My Kask Rapido is the best fitting helmet I've ever owned. Better than my £100 + Giro.

I'm fortunate to have a head that suits Giro so I'm another that's gone down the Foray MIPS route. Great helmet.

Same as Bender, have a foray for winter duties and now have a Synthe for summer/race duties, bit of luck as ordered and paid for standard Synthe from my LBS and the distributor delivered the MIPS version! Pointed this out to the guys at my LBS and they said dont worry and keep it!
Obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated!

Foray for me too, great for the money and my Oakley arms fit well too, unlike the Kask it replaced!
  • That's the big plus for me on Giro helmets. Less adjustable than Kask but play nicely with my Oakely glasses.
