So I was thinking that Sagan probably isn't getting enough credit on the forum for his season.

I was reminiscing about Boonen's 2005 (as you do), with a Flanders Roubaix double, stage wins in the Tour and the World Champs, and realised Sagan's season was probably even better.

So I decided to look it up on CQ, and that got me thinking....

If we assuming the numbers CQ assign to riders as comparable between years....

    Yep, Sagan's not getting the praise due. Those numbers tell the story of an amazing season. He's the absolute bo11ocks.

    An alternative way of looking at it is points per race day. A domination rating if you like.

    (Minimum of 50 race days, stats only go back to 2007, although Boonen '05,'06 is estimated low 30s)

    45.17 Sagan 2016
    42.97 Gilbert 2011
    42.07 Contador 2009

    Though I am sceptical they are comparable between years, because, in my mind anyway, Boonen's 2005 was significantly better than his 2006...

    If it's putting Sagan's 2016 above Roche's 1987 it's broken :D

    Isn't this thing weighted more towards later years as the World Tour expands.

    Sagan will scoop points for that California trash etc.


    And yes, if Roche's 87 is behind Sagan's 16 the the algorithm is wrong!

    The records on PCS for old riders are far from comprehensive. There are a fair few omissions for Roche's palmares.
