Well after a very long and mostly patient wait the day has eventually arrived and ......... it's here;

I must say I'm very pleased with the final result. The build took a little longer than originally planned but Jason got involved in some more Guy Martin build stuff across the summer which you can't really blame him for.

The bike rides like a dream, the weather has tried it's best to stop me getting out during the last 2 weeks but I did manage a good 55km yesterday morning and love it. Ride is superb, so comfortable despite the new saddle (Brooks C13....I wasn't too sure about that). Dura-Ace Di2 is unquestionably better than me, so slick and quick. Speedplay pedals are quite stiff and will likely take a little getting used to but I'm certain that I'm going to enjoy riding this lovely machine very much.......bring on the spring.

    Love the accents of the rear triangle matching with the dura ace bits and the decals. and the rest being black apart from that stunning frame

    Thanks for the positive comments everyone, glad you like it too.

    The wait was about 6 months and might have been a bit quicker if I'd needed it to be, some of the delay was mine.

    To be honest I've never really got the whole 'horizontal Top Tube' thing......but each to their own I suppose.

    Anyway as others have said, of course Rourkes will make you anything you want and if you check out the Gallery section on their website you'll see many horizontal TT's which I'm sure will please you.

    My personal choice was taken due to stand over height and not being overly blessed in the length of leg department :D .

    It's early days yet. It is very firm but then I'm used to a Fabric Scoop Flat Pro which is pretty firm too. No issues with the Brooks so far but I do suspect we'll both take a little getting used to each other.

    It's not, glad you're concerned :D You'll also note that there's no pedals in the photo's.......I don't ride like that either :lol: .
    Those are the shop photo's, it now has the correct setup for me, Speedplay Zero s/s pedals, a Nitto R-80 s/s bottle cage and a Garmin 820 attached.

    Clean, simple and well thought out by the looks of things!

    Only change I would make is to a black seat-post clamp but that is nit-picking and very much personal taste, the colour though is fantastic!

    How does it ride, steel has natural flex so would be interested to hear comparisons to a carbon bike on stiffness, comfort etc.
    Obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated!

    That's just lovely. I had one made in 853 and it actually took longer than 6 months - more like 8, so you've not done too bad with that wait.

    Like the colour as well (but prefer my red!), I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine, although saying that mine is pretty much tucked up for the winter, unless we have a decent spell of crisp, sunny winter days over the coming couple of months.

    My Rourkie has a horizontal top tube. I didn't even have to pay extra....;-)
