Off for yet another scan appointment in the Eye Hospital; if scan results good and show improvement, may avoid need for a course of injections into the back of the eye  the first of which is scheduled for Friday. All bits crossed.

    That doesn't sound nice.

In the office for the morning the back to WFH this afternoon. Will go for a run later once I've digested the 'Autumn Statement' - what a joy.

    Morning,

Feeling slightly groggy today because I tried to self medicate against my month long manflu with whisky and even some ginger related products last night. Say what you like but ginger wine is medicine right?

Our fridge/freezer has stopped working so we are waiting for the landlords to sort it out, we are hoping they will be quick because they think we want to buy their house at some point, even having a meeting over tea in a month or two. I'm going to hide all my expensive stuff (bikes and guitars) and lay it on thick about it being our first house and the fact that we are poor. They are old and live elsewhere, they seem more desperate to sell it that we are to buy, I smell money.

Good luck Orraloon, I'll cross my fingers for you as well.
Not feeling hung over, just tired. Up early and into the office, drove in because I too am suffering the season of manflu. Got plenty of work to keep me busy whilst I'm here, already got enough to take me over my 4 hours for the day and that's before customers start bothering me.
Hopefully the boy will be a bit happier today.
Should I bait the UKIPers further today? Depends how busy I am I guess.
Pub later, looking forward to a beer.
  • Half sorted the turbo set up last night and by that I mean I put a plastic turbo tyre on the old wheel so the new set of Fulcrums can have the proper tyres fitted.

Then gave up and had a brew.

Morning, interesting day yesterday and likely be the same today. a helpful person chopped through a fibre line yesterday at our other site so they all got shunted over to us and due to a lack of desk space I had to give up mine, lines still not up so from 10AM I according to my manager "Do my Job" which may prove awkward as I need a computer, but hey ho we shall see how this pans out. least I wont be sat on my backside all day!

Ta. Train and bus for me, pupil dilating gunk gets put in so cannot see properly for some hours afterwards. No driving / cycling.

A small vein in back of eye had blocked and / or burst, not known why, and leaked fluids into eye with consequent blurring of vision. Last week's photos and tests raising hopes that eye is self healing; had fluoroscein scan last time, fluorescent dye injected and lots of photos taken before and after. Meant I was peeing hi-viz for 24 hours though. 'Interesting' topic for the pub toilets.

Ooh that's not nice, hope it all goes well! Eye stuff makes me shiver, a friend of mine got an infection from his contact lenses and ended up with loads of eye stitches
  • Started out hot and sunny, so after a strenuous hour of coffee and moving the deck chairs to keep from getting too burnt, I decided to take the (motor) bike for a run.

Returned home to do a quick tidy up before the thunderstorm hit, but that was all over in 15 minutes.

All this eye talk is making me queasy. My eye specialist tried to put plugs in the tear duct to help retain any moisture as I have dry eyes form Chemo etc. He started with a needle right in the corner of the eye. I said that's enough, we'll have to manage it some other way. Woke up the next day with not one but two swollen black eyes. Due to see a specialist again but luckily the old one has retired.

    Good luck OL.

On another tack, just popped over to have a nosey at the Crudders - or what's left of them. Have they all caught the plague? No mention of power steering racks or hookers in ditches.

What an absolutely perfect breeze free, sunny day for a cycle and I am on toots duties

Equivalent of the Roman Mars, hence why the French call it Mercredi . Or more appropriately for me today Merd de day.
Walking the bright streets of a Northern Former Pit Town delivering mainly junk mail that's now turned to Paper Mache in the deluge. Up far too late last night for a school night. Went to see Mark Steele in Notts decent show recommended.
Now Waiting for my Brother the Family Season Ticket thief to decide if I can have his spare ticket for the Gooners V PSG tonight, Could be another late one.

Bring on Black Friday nice warm up for Christmas for us posties.
  • Historically, it was half day closing for butchers in Sheffield. Some got bored and formed the Wednesday Football Club. Butchers smoks were blue & white stripes, hence the team colours. And from that comes their nickname of the Pigs. They'll have you believe that its Owls because they played at Owlerton.
Ironically, they built their permanent home, swillsborough, on land originally given over to pig farming.

For those of a sensitive disposition when it comes to eyes and operations therein, look away now.

Main man consultant says that although the oedema at the back of my eye has reduced over past month, has not reduced enough nor fast enough to justify postponing the planned series of injections. Showed me the scan photos, hmmm, in his words 'is there, and is big'. So now on a course of 4 injections 4 weeks apart starting Friday. Joy unbounded.

Upside is issue detected and being addressed before too much or irreversible damage caused. And all the ancillary tests are giving me a MOT; internal eye pressures normal, not become diabetic, cholesterol normal...

To the turbo trainer, take my mind off it.

That's a huge plus point, mustn't lose sight of that.

Yes, that was a deliberately poor choice of words in a feeble attempt at humour.

That's my view as well, but I'll keep an eye on things.
