rumours about early november, but not 100% sure.
  • Zwift themselves don't know at the moment, I heard late November but nobody is letting on. They haven't even dished out all the beta invites yet.

If you're anywhere near SW London they're demoing Zwift IOS support in Sigma Sport Kingston on Thursday night 6pm - 9pm. Might have some horses mouth updates on likely availability then. Planning and hoping to make it down so will post an update if I hear anything new or useful.
  • A lot of people testing are saying "It works, just release it", but I can understand Zwift being cautious, as review sites, BikeRadar included will review it straight away on the first release and if there's issues with it they'll get slammed for it, even if they're fixed within hours all that will appear with google searches is that the app doesn't work right.

ios apps need to go through apple for approval, so even if it is perfect now apple could be imposing a delay.

You can use the existing ios app as a bridge from Bluetooth trainers, heart rate monitors etc. to a PC over wifi, it works very well even on my fairly old laptop.
  • There was a new update to the beta yesterday. Public release in 4-6 weeks

About to invest in a new ipad, anyone able to shed any light on how the iPad Air 2 stacks up vs the iPad Pro for Zwifting?

Hard to say as few people have access to the beta. It'll certainly work on both.

So I'm now the proud owner of
    - A Zwift Beta invite
    - An iPad Pro
    - Some Wahoo BLE sensors

Will be plugging all of the above in later on and reporting back. Rather excited.

Oooh very nice! What trainer you using? Be interesting to hear how it works. :D

just a basic Elite Fluid Chrono Elastogel (think thats its name). Had it 3 years and used for TrainerRoad, never had an issue. Obviously lacks the bells & whistles of a Kickr. And the pricetag.

Still good enough for Zwift and if you want something that adjusts the gradient the Tacx Flow is £199.

2 workouts in, one last night, one this morning...seems excellent.

Ridiculously simple and easy to sync sensors and get riding (compared to 7 year old laptop with TrainerRoad which took 5 minutes of faffing before each ride)
Graphics look good, not super amazing like I've seen demo-ed on top end PCs but perfectly nice
Workouts easy to locate and ride
Only issue I've had is having to put my iPad on a shelf and move the turbo as the screen's too small to read the info on when it's down on a chair in front of me, but going to buy a cheap music stand to get it in the right place.

Going to try a race over the weekend.

    Workouts viewable here

you can buy ipadmounts for handle bars ..... but I guess if you use that bike on the road as well it would be annoying taking it on and off .... that or start using an ipad as a gps :D
  • If you're going to have a semi-permanent setup many people have had success with lightening to HDMI cables to have it display on a TV. Obviously then a much bigger display.

Looked at the pictures on Strava - does look good, as you say perhaps slightly less detail in the textures etc, but that's of little consequence really. Strange seeing Zwift in 4:3 whereas on every other setup it's always 16:9. Be interesting to see how the iPhone version compares as this is 16:9.

that is likely to be the long term solution, just need to procure a TV to do that on which is probably a couple of pay days away. saving up for a power meter at the moment.

Do you think they will be rolling out an android version? I'm currently using my Samsung Galaxy Tab S which is damn useful because it has Ant+ built into it. Alternatively, does anyone know if there's a way to link the tab and my laptop talk to each other?! That would be useful!

Would like to have a crack at Zwift but cant be arsed to fork out for the dongle etc!!

Yes, but only after they've done the iOS verison and gotten that established. Only then will they start to work on Android - if I had to guess maybe 6 months away. Android is much more complex as while iOS is one platform Android is a whole bunch of them, doesn't make it impossible, just a bit harder.

For some reason ive had a complete moment!....i was talking about forking out for the Wahoo Ipad dongle! Completely forgot i could get one for my laptop and do it that way!
  • This is the one I use although you can get cheaper https://www.amazon.co.uk/Suunto-Movesti ... stick+mini

Are you buying one or twenty for that price? (Exaggerating)

Routinely under £8 (from Hong Kong) readily available for about a tenner on eBay.

The latest incarnation of the Official Garmin stick for £15 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112188422594

I have one from that seller... No connection with him/her except as a happy buyer
  • Does anybody know if you can use a chromecast with the app to display on a second screen?

not currently an option on the ipad version
  • You can use Apple TV or an HMDI dongle
  • The iOS app is complete as is awaiting approval by Apple.
