Hi
Just checking out the Wunderground weather site and I was looking at southern Crete as it seems to be a few more degrees warmer than Majorca in the Spring. On the south of the inland mountains seems to give shelter from potential cold northerly winds giving it a warmer location. I was wondering if anyone has been out this way and especially in the spring.
Anything to note, like flights, hotels, transfers, road conditions and and is there any bike hire please? :) Thanks

Thanks for that. Here's the yearly temps comparing southern Crete with Majorca and think Crete seems a lot better with cycling possible throughout Autumn, winter and Spring with temps being near 20c. Seems Crete is about 3-5c warmer through the winter.

  • We've been going to Myrtos on the South side for the last few years. To get out of the village and up the the highest point of the road on the way to Viannos is brutal. It's sea level to 2400ft in about 12 miles. Even in June, just before the season starts the roads are dead - although doing that climb in the heat would probably see you off.

The South and both sides of Crete are great - not a big fan of the popular North though.
  • Rhodes is also great for spring cycling.. usually see 20 degrees +. excellent routes to choose from also..coastal and mountainous.
