26" wheelset deals QR 9 speed - unfashionable but needed

My old Superstar jobs on my HT with Superlegarra hub are panned and running on borrowed time methinks. I got these 4/5 years ago on a cracking deal so loathed to spend more than the £150 I paid. I know they arent fashionable anymore but anyone see any sub £150 deals they'd recommend. Usual trail use. Needs to be QR front and back and 9 speed compatible.

plenty of wheels that still have QR as most hubs now come with adaptors. any shimano freehub is 9sp compatable.

Its probably a stupid question, but I also require 26" wheels QR for a pre - 2000 klein ... all the wheels can take a rotor, but the rear of the klien is V-braked only .... can you still use rim brakes on these wheels, or do they use some funky new rims that don't accept good old v-brakes

Some can, some are disc only. Depends on the rim.

Those appear to be out of stock and I can't get the customs under £200 before the code!

So you got a good deal at the time and with six years worth of inflation (bike parts are about 5-6% pa over that time) and want to pay no more, a bit optimistic I think.

You need to accept you'll pay more or get not quite as good.

Or look for a decent used set.

The rims aren't bad, seen them used as OE on some mid ranged Cannodales before, the hubs are likely unbranded cup and cone: the Raleigh build is usually high quality though. Oh, and a free set of disc brakes ;-)

Cheaper than Merlin for the X-rides at £120.

I had a set, not at all bad, feel perhaps a little harsh riding compared to some but also quite responsive for a relatively inexpensive wheelset.

They look like a very good option. My Superstars have been spot on and the Superleggera Trizoid hub very reliable considering their treatment. Do you think these X-rides will be significantly different performance wise? I've got a new FS bike but I dont want my C456 to become a POS

The Crossride is a decent mid-range wheelset, it would depend on what rims you have as to how similar they feel to your current wheels but they are moderately lightweight and similar to say the Vapour rimmed models that are quite common from SS.
