So the Commons announce that they think he should be stripped of his knighthood, just a few days before he says he's going to sit down with the Pensions Regulator to resolve the pension problem. Wouldn't it have made more sense to do that the other way around?

15 years SPG had to resolve the pension issue at BHS and failed to do so. Bought before the select committee and he states he's working in a solution which we've yet to see.
Which begged the question why SPG didn't remedy the problem during his fifteen year tenure but the quality of MP's appears to be of low intelligence and ability when they had the opportunity to drill down into the detail.
SPG has done nothing illegal and he's run rings around those MP's. They licked his ring when he paid his mrs the highest ever dividend payment who domiciled in Monaco paid no tax. Oh and the dividend of £1.3 BILLION was a loan raised on future earnings and other shareholder (HBOS) were paid a dividend of 8% equal to their shareholding. HBOS facilitated the financial support for Green to buy BHS and lent Green £850 million to acquire Arcadia which was paid back within two years. The dividend payment to a Green accrued to the net debt position of the group but cash generation and assets made all this legal and nowhere near the levels of leverage that venture capital companies operate at or the cash they take.

Mr Green is an arse everyone knows that but the politicans are arses for grandstanding. Green has not been convicted of a crime so I am not too sure on what grounds they have to call for the striping of his peerage. Agreed. MPs seem to abuse their parliamentary privilege to try to make a name for themselves. Tom Watson in the phone hacking inquiry was the worst case.0 -

Clive Lewis nailed it in his speech in the Commons yesterday.
Stripping his knighthood does nothing for the BHS pensioners who are out of pocket and if MPs want to stop the sort of asset stripping and immorality seen in the whole BHS saga then they have the power to legislate to prevent it. All the grandstanding in the world won't change that.
Green may well be an utter c*ck but if you want to prevent things like this happening, make them illegal.0 -
People are forgetting that it's SPG's wife who owns all the shares.
