Hope everyone was alright in this. Goes to show that some cyclists are just as impatient as the drivers we lambast too. If anything we should be even more careful around each other as the differences in speed/skill can be enormous

    AG: Yes, the new cycling superhighways are going to have four-metre wide lanes for two-way traffic; two metres in each direction, which is going to be enough for faster cyclists to overtake slower ones. Obviously if faster cyclists get stuck behind slower ones then they probably won’t use the lanes, and we’re aware of that. That’s why we’re making them suitable for both speeds of cyclists.

    TBF - whilst that lane may not have been 4 meters wide - the faster rider was trying to overtake someone else who was already riding in the middle with space on the near side - she tried to squeeze through - impatient? Probably.

    She was impatient and negligent, the chap on the Boris could have given her more room perhaps (may not have been aware of her approaching from behind) but it was wholly her fault, overtaking on a CS laid out like that should be treated no differently to a car overtaking on an A-road.
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

    It's traffic, isn't it? You can't always go at the speed you want in traffic.

    Its odd isn't it, people wouldn't think of driving like that, you go at the speed of the person infront, until you get to a dual carriageway or the road opens up to a out of town A-road

    but so many cyclists just stick to there speed and what ever is in front they pull out to go around, oblivious to cars behind them, oncoming bikes in the CS lanes .. its the same mentality that gives us shoaling ...... I wonder if it will always be like this, .... is it inexperience, or lack of dedicated rules like there is with road driving ?

    Ironically its the same behaviour that we complain about with drivers who see a bike and 'must overtake' regardless of whether its safe or even makes any sense.
