as a daily commuter this is my first cycle to work day .... I am quite looking forward to see if I am a commuter cycle snob and I turn my nose up at them all, or if I end up with Bike shed rage when its crammed full of bikes ... or as I suspect, I wont actually notice !0

Over the years I took part in a few large organised rides, and the number of incidents due to the lack of experience of riding in a group or on the road was appalling.0 -

Any thoughts on the following article? Some interesting stats, and when it comes to accepting or rejecting hypotheses statistics is more of an art. Plus the stats are self-reported by the operator?

I'd love to ride in to work tomorrow - but having dropped No1 Son off at his grandparents - the opposite direction to my way to work - I have no time to do the extra miles required to get into the office on time. I did ride in today and will again (probably) on Friday - when I'm not on toddler taxi duty ...0

I'd really not worry about a few extra cyclists on the road. Cars are there all the time and they are by far the number one pest when I'm cycling.0

CSH has zero cars, a few incoming overtaking cyclists and loads of pedestrians.

I've only noticed you on this forum the last few days, but already you have one of the most annoying posting styles as if you are gods gift to commuting cyclists. Why push the agenda that they're are slow, less than safe cyclist on the roads. Encourage them and they'll be less cars. In the mean time ride to the conditions, if there are a lot of nodders then ride past when its safe to do it. I reckon I'd rather wing any number of pedestrians or fellow cyclists than any of the metal boxes you mention, however trivially I am cycling...
The segregated highway is a means to an end (it takes you from Tower Hill to Westminster in around 12 minutes) - you just have to accept that you can't hare along like your @rse is on fire, you have to cover your brakes, keep your distance, don't trust anyone, and shout at jaywalkers.
There are plenty of d!cks along there, but there are plenty of d!cks everywhere. I use it if I'm heading the long way home - it's fine. I can cycle quickly from Lambeth Bridge onwards if I want to.0 -

Infrastructure isn't built for fast cyclists, it's built for people like my wife and kids that are not as confident as you. I'd far prefer to have them feel safe even if it does upset a few that think they are better than most. As Big Mat said in your other thread and WhatleyTom in this one slow down if you think it's dangerous and speed up when it's safe to do so, they are both quick riders so far from the types you are complaining about. It's not all about you.
Anyway, as expected Ride to work day made no difference for me. Only saw about half a dozen riders on my way in.0 -

The superhighway isn't built for people to blat along at 25 mph, it's pretty well designed and convenient for the 12 mph cyclist. Infrastructure for high speed cycling away from motorized traffic is called a velodrome.
Nasty day on CS7 for any neophytes - I'm assuming there were plenty, as there were hordes of cyclists this morning. It also seemed that there was way more traffic than normal, with plenty of potential left and right hooks.0 -
Anyone come close to dying on the way in today, thanks to what appeared to be a novice cyclist jumping on the bandwagon today?

Nicely though, I happened across a Ambulance on the Gloucester road with his lights on doing 12mph above the speed limit, so drafted him in all the way, barley pedalled ...... only got out the draft when I had to stop for the lights that he went through0
