Hi folks
I'm planning a road trip round the Provence Alpes next year, likely flying into Nice/Grenoble, and wondered if anyone knows of any reasonably priced vans for hire. The usual companies are very expensive.
Many thanks
Martin :D

We've just been and by far the cheapest option for us(family of 4) was to take our own car.
Flights and car hire(small hatch) for 10 days was well over a grand.
I've been looking at Van hire (Crewcab)myself for Provence/Italy next year and it's not looking promising!Cheapest I can get it to for flights and van for two weeks is looking like £1400.....so I'll be taking my own car again.
  • Thanks. I live in Inverness which means driving down results in 2 days extra travelling so paying more for flights and van hire balances out the extra riding days!
  • Try here http://www.truchelocation.co.uk/ 06000 Nice 4 more places there are 700 km free Inc.

Being a Yorkshireman I'd sooner save a Grand and drive
  • I'd rather save a grand too. Add in ferries, fuel, overnight accommodation, hassle and extra days holiday the saving from up here is probably not that much. Enjoy your trip next year! :D

Ferries, fuel and Road Tolls is included in the Grand
    Flights and van hire £1400...minimum.
Drive inc Ferries,Fuel and Tolls £450
    So roughly £950 cheaper 8)
Downside is it's roughly 18hrs door to door...longer if there's trouble on the M25(and there usually is).The outward trip took 21hrs this year
I can see your problem though as Inverness is a good 6 or 7 hours furthur :|

If you get a decent price post it up as I'd be interested!

I would look for 'local' car hire companies, a lot cheaper than 'big names'.

    C.
  • Flight from inverness to Nice from 162-210 Pound https://www.skyscanner.net/ or https://www.cheapflights.co.uk/ from 245 Pound Car http://www.truchelocation.co.uk/rent-utilities-car.php 225 Pound for a week 7 days inc. 700 km.

Flight 245 Pound can do cheaper
Car 225 Pound for a week If 7 days more + 225 Pound
    Total 470 Pound 7 days more + 225 Pound total 695 Pound
Maybe you have to pay for the bike also
