It's windy apparently, which makes things a little more interesting.

  • May make it more like a 50km ITT in benign conditions, then.

I think Froome's going to be too knackered to do anything outrageous, Quintana's looking strong. Froome to 'only' take 1:30 back I reckon.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

I think the most interest battle will be for 2nd-4th.

I'm intrigued why Sri Lanka vs Australia at cricket is on Eurosport 2.

Australia is Europe these days. See the Eurovision Song Contest. Although FIFA think it's in Asia.

2 minute start line gap could well see Froome catching Chavez; bonus motivation for reeling someone in when it starts to hurt?

  • not sure if Froome is knackered or being saving himself the last few stages...sadly he wont get close enough to Quintana on GC to make Saturday more interesting

I think that Froome will bury himself in this stage, get a good gain today, but then have nothing left for tomorrow and still end up 2'01 down

Which team do you think is more knackered at the moment? Movistar seem to have done more work at the front than Sky, but have Sky been anonymous simply because they are a less capable team in this race than they were in the Tour. Give Sky a deficit of just 30-40s to look at and *perhaps* they could organise an assault on Movistar?

If Froome wins from this position the doping chat will be utterly unbearable.

I don't think the teams will make much difference. Quintana will just follow Froome until the last bit of the last climb.

Hasn't Quintana got a habit of crashing in these types of TT's...

He has a hundred percent record of crashing in Vuelta time trials while wearing the leader's jersey.

I'm sure you're right TBB but its not beyond the realms of possibility that a moment of weakness could turn into a break. ISTR it's happened once already this Vuelta...

Its still at the stage where a crash, mechanical, lapse of concentration etc could change things. I doubt it, but it could still happen.

Sky car is driving on Froome's wheel. Hazardous, but marginal gains and all that.

    This is a novelty:-
    "QUINTANA: "IT'S A PERSONAL CHALLENGE"
Nairo Quintana (Movistar) is the last rider to tackle this ITT.
"It's a long time trial but I'm not sure it's one for the specialists. There are uphill sections, turns and it goes upside down. It's a personal challenge to clock a good time and to defend my red jersey with dignity. I'm in good condition in this third week.""
