Looking forward with excitement to Sunday and will probably be in George Square Saturday to see the riders too. On Sunday plan to be somewhere along the windy Stewarton Road, maybe at Windy Yett (love that name!).

Can someone do the snazzy graphics?

Ross Meffen heads the leaderboard to date but that might change...

Take it you mean Dodside Road on the B769? The peloton will be going full gas at that point, blink and you'll miss them. I was thinking of the south end of White Loch, there's a slight rise in the road so maybe slow them down by 1mph, just enough to see some of them

I think my perceptions of the slow bits may prove misleading! but you are right, a bit further back is best.

Not long to go before the team presentations in George Square - webcam

Bit showery this morning west of Glasgow, outlook for Sunday a bit mixed

    "Sunday:

Still mainly cloudy at first but sunny intervals will break through more widely through the day. Isolated heavy showers will develop, perhaps with thunder. Maximum Temperature 19 °C."

If the bloody wind stays like it was this morning they are not in for a fun day riding south out of the city!

No live coverage that I've found, nothing mentioned in any of the Scottish news programs. All very hush hush, Glasgow is certainly missing out on this

It was being filmed for ITV they said. Pissing down in the square so didn't stay the distance but got Tom Dumoulin who was well received.

The race is live on ITV4.
  • Highlights on BIKE too.

Thought Ed Bradbury's comment on twitter about Glasgow was a bit moronic. I wish him a swift puncture at the rollout.

Ah yes, my Great Aunt complaining about the disruption in Carlisle made me think that it had started and that Stage 2 was tomorrow... Let's hope I'm back from my ride in time to watch it...
  • Was impressed with the amount of time riders (special mention to Dumoulin, Phinney and Dibben) spent signing autographs and posing for photos despite getting soaked themselves. Someone from Giant had to go back and get Dumoulin and hurry him along as the team were wanting back to their hotel for some food! Actually most riders were happy to at least give kids a high five as they passed - although one seemed to go out of his way to blank them.

Spent last couple of days down at a damp Ayr airshow, so no opportunity to see presentation today.

Not far for us to travel to see them tomorrow as they pass the end of our road less than 500 metres away!

Going to be a fast day's racing tomorrow, forecast is for 3-4mph WSW wind. So why every time I cycle down to Stewarton is there a 25-30mph WSW wind

Beautiful and sunny here in Glasgow right now! Not a cloud in sight. Honest. Off to the B769 soon. Hopefully should just have time to watch them go past (est. 1200-1215ish) then ride back home to see the TV coverage start. Rolling road closure of the B769 1130 to 1230.

Just seen a photo Pov has posted on Twitter. Glasgow weather definitely playing ball this morning!

    Och
  • And just on Ed Bradbury, maybe he's half right. Race today goes through Patna, one of the most dismal settlements on these isles. But I won't have a word against Glasgow!
  • Still don't understand why there is a London stage? What's the point?

It's easy really.. because TfL and London are paying for it.

  • TDF finishes in Paris, Vuelta in Madrid, ATOC in LA. ToB should finish London really
  • I hadn't really being paying any attention to the ToB, but now I've had a look there is a pretty good field there. Especially in the sprints. Could be a great race.
  • Just passing through Auchinleck and Cumnock for anyone interested.

but then ATOC should be Sacremento, and the Giro doesnt always finish in Rome, so theres no need for ToB to use London just because...and after all 16 laps of a pan flat 6.25km circuit, its not going to decide GC unless something so its just because they pay for it

We have this discussion every year. The sponsors love the London finish for their VIP schmoozing needs. TfL and London are more than happy to pay the necessaries. The WT and ProConti teams love it because transport links from London are easy. Etc etc etc.
