How many KMs can you expect from higher-end components?

Hi,

just a random question I got.

How many km can you typically expect from parts like the Shimano Deore xt groupset or the 105 groupset, compared to Altus, Acera or Tourney components? Taken if all are being taken good care of and everything else?

    Still depends on what you're riding.
    If it's 1m thick grit filled slop then about 5 minutes...
    Do Nellyphants count?

    Commuter: FCN 9
    Cheapo Roadie: FCN 5
    Off Road: FCN 11

    How long is a piece of string?

    Lower end stuff can last longer the high end stuff sometimes. High end stuff might be designed for lightness, not durability.

    Cheaper chainrings in particular can be more durable. Deore last longer than XT due to being made from steel instead of aluminium but the downside is they're much heavier.

    XT jockey wheel bearings last longer than XTR as they are bigger (heavier), but also last longer (for the same usage) than the lower end ones with bushes not bearings.
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
