So looking for my first FS bike and have around £1600. I don't want to overbike myself or get something just because its on the cheap.

I went and had a look at the Boardman Pro and although a good bike, I'm still not convinced on the sizing!

So two other options I tried for size are:

Trek Fuel EX7 (spare change for dropper):

Trek Remedy 7

Whyte T130S was looking good, but just cant stretch that far!

Not sure if Remedy is too much for light trails, red routes etc?

Open to suggestions but like the Treks as local!

Giant Trance 2 is another shout...

Definitely the Trance. Excellent bike with an extremely good frame and decent value.

Think its defiantly between the Trance 2 and Remedy 7. Pretty similar all round I think. Need to ride both!

Reign 2 is just about in budget - but no way I need 160mm, but looks so pretty!

Will see if I can get a ride on the Trance 2.

After a bit of an all rounder if that helps. Climbs, red routes, long flat fields and bridle paths.

I don't like the mushy feel from the Trek rear suspension, so for me the Trance.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

I agree about the mushy Trek. The Reign is awesome but unless you're really riding hard the Trance is better. The Reign is hard going up hill.

Specialized Camber comp (both 650b and 29er) are both down to £1500. Good bikes?

What about a Bird Aeris? Can spec it how you want and great bikes.

    Camber is a great bike.
If you look around you should be able to get a Stumpjumper FSR for around £1650. A very capable bike and nice to ride.

Try and get a test ride on the bikes you are considering before making a final decision.

Bird looks good but over budget plus probably over kill for what I want it for!

I was going to build up a kili Flyer but think it might come out too costly... Plus it would mean asking on here for more help lol

They work great in the dry. Ideal if you don't live in the uk.
