Pain outer above kneecap

Develop pain when riding above kneecap on outside. Is this tendinitis?

Any advice/tips of quick fix?

  Look up ilioibial band syndrome. The give away is a very sharp intense pain when you kneel. Rest will sort it out and if you are running then give that a break.

  Can be a sign of knees collapsing inwards due to cleat or insole needing to be wedged up higher on the inside (side closest to bike).
