Looking to replace my Boardman FS Pro from 2009 for a hardtail 29er. Needs to be fairly light (sub 26lbs would be nice), have decent spec (fork in particular) as I don't have the spare cash for upgrades, and not be more than £1k but better towards £800. I'm not looking for something with really slack angles, 68.5 deg head angle would be fine, and I'm not bothered about the latest 1x gearing systems, 2x or 3x would be fine with me.

What's out there? I've looked at canyon but I don't really want to wait for 3 months to get the bike.

What are you riding XC or Trail Centers?

Canyon is a good XC bike and might feel a bit twitchy on gnarly descents, saying that I a Cube LTD SL XC bike which I recently put a short stem on and it now shreds trails with no issues. I have been to Afan past few weekends and have been riding gnarly gnarly stuff which was loads of fun. My Boardman Team FS 2014 full sus is quicker downhill of course but climbs slower a bit slower.

Last time I looked there were still some Boardman 29er HT's on halfords website for circa £750.

Neither of the above linked are XC bikes and both are a fair way over your target weight!
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
