Wheely no idea...

Hi,

I'm relatively new to this game but am getting pretty much hooked already.

Having hired a Canyon Endurace while on holiday, I want to upgrade the tyres on my Raleigh Revenio 1 (2013) to 25mm (I want to upgrade everything to be fair because the Canyon was clearly a massive step up from the Revenio, but small steps and all that).

What I want to know is this:

I currently have Raleigh AC 1.0 wheels with 700c 23mm tyres. Is it possible to use 25mm tyres on these wheels. (Thinking Continental 4 seasons.) I felt that the 25mm offered more stability, and when I eventually upgrade the whole bike in a few months time I'll be able to use them then too.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Should be OK. Have a look under your brakes, under the fork crown and between the rear tyre and seat tube to see if it looks like there's space for a slightly bigger tyre.

Worse case scenario, if they don't fit you can take them off and keep them for when you get a new bike in the future.

    Great. Thanks.

So I don't need to buy bigger (wider wheels) then?

    Great. Thanks.

Seems to be a good 8-9mm to spare at a minimum.

    Should be fine for 25s.
