Hope grip doctors - stupid question probably

So I got a set of grip doctors on clearance the other week and was surprised when I fitted them that the plates on the outside was considerably smaller than the lock-on grips I use.

Is there some kind of size selection I'm unaware of or is this just the way they are?

Perfectly normal, the end caps only need to cover the end of the bar (22.2mm OD) plus a bit. The only come in one size.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

Figured as much. Just messed with my brain a little. Might get some grips with black lock sections to match.. Make it a bit less obvious.
