As above,can anyone reccomend a slick tyre that works,something not too wide.

Purely for weight reasons.

Very little weight difference. What you lose from not having a tube a partly replace with rim tape and sealant.

depends on the tube weight but can save 100-125g per wheel

Agreed, depending on the rim tape (it can be lighter) but the sealant adds about 69g, a normal butyl lightweight tube is about 125g and a normal one about 200g.
