Seems like a totally pointless bike for fire roads.

"The NS Eccentric ticks all the hardcore hardtail-boxes. Steel frame? Yup, butted Tange 4130 steel. Big fork up front? 140mm of air sprung X-Fusion Sweep R. Dirt jump inspired roots? Very much so. NS is better known for bikes made for hardcore airtime, but it’s been branching out into more versatile fare."
Review a bit out of date and older steel frame but...I don't do smileys.

Nice bike but there are dozens of bikes better for your use.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Much heavier than you need for fire road use, also won't pedal as well as a better suited bike.
Budget?
Have a look at the Decathlon 700 series, excellent quality XC bikes.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
