Seems like a totally pointless bike for fire roads.

"The NS Eccentric ticks all the hardcore hardtail-boxes. Steel frame? Yup, butted Tange 4130 steel. Big fork up front? 140mm of air sprung X-Fusion Sweep R. Dirt jump inspired roots? Very much so. NS is better known for bikes made for hardcore airtime, but it’s been branching out into more versatile fare."

Review a bit out of date and older steel frame but...

Nice bike but there are dozens of bikes better for your use.

Much heavier than you need for fire road use, also won't pedal as well as a better suited bike.

    Budget?

Have a look at the Decathlon 700 series, excellent quality XC bikes.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
