Looks made for Valverde, with Movistar on the front most of the race.

Wild card - Cunego from the break?

And what about Dumoulin? He could do this and it seems unclear whether he's going for stages and days in pink or the GC itself.

Meh, not over Valverde, the bullet.

Agree, esp with Movistar likely to marshal things to the end for him.

TV starts earlier today - preview at 11:45 and live at 12:00.

You can always edit your prediction posts after the event à la Cycling Podcast.

On odds, valverde is 5/2 or 10/3

Next lowest odds is Ulissi at 6 or 7/1.

If you back Dumolin an EW would be worthwhile at 14/1.

Zakarin at 12/1 also worth EW.

This could be made for someone not in GC contention. Zoom off in the last few kms and hang on.

BTW Blazing, your stage profile is the wrong one. It doesn't have a climb at the start.

    Typical.
I got mine from the official website the other day = wrong.
    Meanwhile, PCS = right.
    Official site now changed.

Gotta love the Italian way of doing things.

Anyhow, mine would have been far better for the stage.
As it is now, it'll be no break possible for the first 40kms.

Now I am hearing on RAI that the start has been moved up 10 minutes.
    Due off in 3......2.......1.....

Nice to see that even ex-pros of many years sometime fluff up getting into their cleats - Juan Antonia Flecha on the preview :-)

If the weather is that poor for the final climb there will be some extra heavy legs

Finally live. Break on the first climb.
Kolobnev, Zhupa and Bisolti have about 2 and a half minutes.
What a quality break that is.

So is anyone else thinking that Dumoulin has got a bigger chance at winning this than people are giving him credit for? A long TT coming up and relatively few summit finishes this year.

Every time I hear him saying he's not here to win the GC I do think "yeah alright mate, you are at it!"

    Long way to go though.

Well over 8 minutes now as the peloton continue in coma mode.
Boy, this is another grim stage.

Dull dull dull. Someone had Tim Wellens I seem to think in PTP - looking better than the scores of us who went for Valverde
