Another day of lovely weather and great vista's.

    Not unlike Peterborough this morning.

Tut tut. Stage thread started and no profile, let alone pics.
No wonder major PTP pink faces yesterday.
Talking of which, it's Kittel's birthday today.

Same finish as 2009 when Scarponi won from the breakaway.

Long stage. I may have this very wrong but I don't see Kittel having the legs at the end of this.

Small group away - Txurruka, Brutt, Oss, Foliforov. Nothing in the profile to stop a bunch sprint imo.

Everyone else should leave it entirely to Etixx to chase the breakaway.

Yeah, I thought it might be a breakaway day but it seems unlikely now

    Already live on Rai.
Oss has just come to grief on a descent. He's up, dusted off and trying to regain the break.

Katusha rider pays the price for trying to divebomb the corner

    Greipel's done very well!

...and takes it really well! Wins from Demare by bike lengths.

That boys and girls is the difference between the 5* sprinters and the rest!

Not important but it's slightly unfair that Greipel has been given the same time as the rest, that Gap was Massive!

They gave a 4 second gap for the GC boys after 14th spot or so.
    Zakarin moves up, Chaves down.
I think Valverde was last man.
Landa lost out along with Uran, Dumoulin and the rest

I had an exam this morning and forgot to pick Demare. At least he didn't win though which is what usually happens

Been trying to avoid the favourites & nab stages, since I have no chance on the overall season.
    - although I thought Contralamontre picked him too?

^Remembered the stat that he has won a GT stage every entry since 1910 or something, and any other year he would have been a favourite on today's route.

Less of a sprint, more of a monster late attack.

He did! Good spot... I missed that one. I'll post up an interim update on the rest day so that everyone can check their scores.

Stages 7,11 and 12 offer possibilities for him. Then he'll be off for sure.

    Yes, stage 12 then ciao.
Surely this is too much of a giant carrot to our very fast donkey.

nah, that was an 1800 watt kick away from the group, then leave it in the big gear and hope!...
He made 6 or 7 bike lengths by jumping at that time then maintained it.

Demare showing the long sprint gets you a decent second place over others that have shorter fuses.

Thanks Malx for being so honourable! Yesterday made up for picking Van Emden over Dumoulin on stage 1. Looking forward to seeing the scores.
