Currently going ridiculously cheap for a full carbon bike. Does anyone have one and would you recommend it? Is it worth buying to upgrade to 105 and Aksiums or should I go for something that comes with these as standard. I'm aware of the cable buzz issue, apparently they've fixed that but can't find any other reviews of it anywhere that I've looked. I'd planned on spending £1400 on a Defy Advanced 2 but new kitchen mugged me of my budget :cry:

    Looks like a an open mould carbon frame. Having never ridden it can't give an opinion of any worth. Sora 9 speed is decent enough. Personally I'd go for;

    It's pretty hard to make a good carbon frame and pretty difficult to mess up alu.
    Why tidy the house when you can clean your bike?

    Thanks dog, I've already got a defy which is approaching retirement age and am looking for a carbon ride sooner rather than later hence going for the cheaper options

    I bought one last September. It's basically a great bike. I just finished Etape Loch Ness a good coupe of hours ahead of bikes costing easily 5 time as much.

    Things to watch out for... the standard tyres aren't great. I upgraded to 25mm tyres.

    I had the front derailleur hanger snap off, resulting in a new bike (under warranty and without any hassle) so check for a gap between the hanger and the plate - it's riveted on. If there's a gap, reject it.

    Make sure there is lube on the seat post. Mine corroded slightly and jammed solid in the frame.

    Insist that the rattle is sorted before the bike is delivered. The two frames I've had have both had the issue resolved at the 6 week service.

    The price is now down to £600, so is brilliant value.

    The upgrades I made are;
    - Pedals
    - Wheels
    - Tyres
    - Saddle

    None if this was absolutely necessary, but don't tell the Mrs1 :-)

    I realise you've probably replaced your steed by now, but hopefully someone else will find this useful.

    Don't see the point in buying a carbon bike that weighs 9.5kg myself. I know there are other advantages to carbon than just weight but this is surely the main advantage? You can probably get an Alu bike weighing 1kg less for the same money, so if I were you I'd be asking myself, why do I really want a carbon bike?
