I have a choice of a shop display 2014 Team Hardtail for £465 or the 2016 for £620 any suggestions what would be the better one.

I like my 2014 Team 27.5 all i use it for is firetrails and a little road .

The major difference is the drivetrain - the 2016 gets a 1x11 speed compared to the 2x10 of the 2014. The 2016 is a touch slacker and longer too, if I recall correctly. The rest of the spec is very much the same.

For your use, the 2x10 is probably more useful. I'd save the money and get the cheaper one.
