Yes, it was snowing when the last 10 went off. The best times were set in the dry.
    Ah, cheers for that

Also in the last ten were:

Kelderman +33, Porte +37, Jungels +24. The only one within 20 seconds of the winner was Quintana (+16). He seems to do well in snow.

  • I thought one of the Izaaguires was at Sky? I'm most confused...

Beñat Intxausti. I'm not sure I really know the difference between him and an Izaguirre.

60 km and first categorised climb have been culled from today's stage.

Hmm, could be Kittel's stage then.

One of the local pro riders suggested that the last climb is too hard for the pure sprinters and that there will be 40 max at the end.

    Fair enough. They should know.

Rob Hatch and Hayles made a comment about how lean Kittel was looking when they saw him at the airport so we'll see.

I'm slightly surprised Ben Swift is racing here and not Yorkshire - maybe just bad memories from last year.

I think they might be trying to turn Swifty into the new Boassen Hagen (Sky vintage) - potential stage grabber and low-mountains super-domestique. I suspect given the choice of nailing a place in the Tour de France squad or doing Tour de Yorkshire, he has chosen the former.

Are you saying a Yorkshireman would turn down a chance to ride in God's Own Country just to get a chance to ride round some poncey foreign mountains? Ee, by 'eck.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

    What a strange stage.
Nobody could be bothered to try and drop Kittel, I guess.

Kittel is climbing better than I've ever seen, but a few times already this year he seems to have lost some top-end speed

    One's exhausted, the other's a lizard guy.

Stannard DNF. Nothing too serious I hope.

From Inrng: Richie Porte out of the Tour de Romandie with gastric woes, others in the peloton having the same, eg Kwiatkowski yesterday.

Apparently pretty cold - but so much nicer than the rain/sleat/snow of the prologue

Froome lost about 30" due to a flat on the penultimate hill. Doesn't look in good shape & no teammates with him at the mo.

Sky going 100% for G by the look of things. But Froome is making his way through the cars to the back of the peloton.

Edit - Nope didn't make it, G now already isolated further up the road.

Froome back. Guess it was easier due to the cars but he looked pretty strong.
