So the spring is at an end, despite the weather.

So here is a vote on which has been the best of the spring classics... and a bit of justification why ? ! :)

I am going with Gent for the reason that I was there and that hopefully the loss of Antoine Demoitie will lead to a positive change for the sport.

Good reason but the only answer is Roubaix nee? One of the best one day races ever.

For discussion purposes I'd say we need to take that as read and discuss the other races

Realistically it's only ever going to be Roubaix this year isn't it? Unless you are a bitter Fabs/Boonen fan I guess.

"Best" spring classic = the one where someone died - seriously? Obviously Roubaix this year, by a cobbled country mile.

There are other reasons which I stated.

Ok so apart from that epic 90km attack in Roubaix !

Paris-Roubaix. No contest. One of the best one-day races for a few decades.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

Definitely PR. It was a classic edition, nothing else got close and the hilly classics were a complete waste of time!

Whoever didn't say PR needs their head examining.

PR 2016 was one of the most exciting sport events let alone race that I have watched for quite a few years.

Paris Roubaix was clearly the best classic this season and will very likely be the best race all year.

I think people claiming it is the best race of all time are hyping it a bit though.

Maybe, but at that point you're splitting hairs.

Doesn't really get better than that in any meaningful way. Only way it could was if it was repeated over multiple days in a GT.

Roubaix by a long mile, then RVV... the rest pretty predictable stuff

And that is from the spokesperson for RVV so debate over.
  • I love Boonen, but even I loved Paris Roubaix.

The best edition of that race in about 15 years, but as mentioned best race ever is very subjective ('05 Giro is probably my choice for that)

Roubaix is always a special occasion. Trying to describe it to a non-cycling numpty I always say, it's about as special as the FA cup final.

Soon hopefully, I've spent near two weeks soldering cables in the one location in the Uk with no 3G or wifi.
