Does anyone have any recommendations for renting a decent road bike near Albufeira?

Near to our apartment would be good. The area is called Aldeia das acoteias, a few miles east of Albufeira.
Also any recomendations on ~50mile hilly rides?
What are the roads like around here?

Not aware of any in Albufeira but certainly a couple of very useful places in Portimao - which could be a little far west for you.

Yep. Monchique is the obvious one. Depending on which way you approach it you will have a nice, relatively flat warm up of a few miles (I'd suggest you get the other side of the N125 as quickly as possible, probably heading up to Algoz) and then it'll be hilly enough for you. ;)

There are some good rides if you carry on beyond Algoz out to St Bartolomeu de Messines. The roads get pretty sparse beyond that but going E or W gives reasonable options.
