Probably around the time an electronic version of 105 is launched.

I think Shimano are working on about three years each iteration for their groupsets. Latest Tiagra were 2012 then 2015 so the next one, whatever speed it is, not likely to be out for a couple of years yet.

tiagra is going with a wide range cassette 11-46 and a 40-30 front.
It won't be electronic but it might get manc33 up his hill.

Considering Tiagra 4700 has just come out this year and Shimano have 3-4 years between each groupset iteration, probably about 2019-2020.

The price difference on Tiagra and 105 is so small that if you want 11spd go 105.

I think half the reason Shimano has so many groupset options is to give bike manufacturers different price points for complete bikes.

I reckon Tiagra could stay at 10 speed for a while. There are a lot of 10 speed tiagra, 105 and ultegra bikes still out there and if a part needs replacing then I think a lot of people would be happy to use a tiagra cassette or even a shifter rather than upgrade an entire groupset.

So I reckon it may well stay 10 speed for a while

    And so it should!

Was a stupid question in the first place, but if you really must know the answer, Tiagra will remain 10 speed until Ultegra, and probably 105 are 12 speed.
As DA is not even 12 speed yet, don't hold your breath

FWIW I hated the old Tiagra, but new Tiagra is v nice IMO.

The problem is, it is not backwards compatible with the 4600 components and they have deleted the 12-30T cassette.
