Priority delivery?

Ordered some new parts from CRC last Monday which have yet to be delivered, just looking at new saddles and one popped up at Wiggle so I placed the order and noticed they want £2.99 2-3 days priority delivery same as CRC. Meh! Why don't they just charge and offer the service they used to do for free?

Standard delivery normally takes 2 or 3 days.

Because if I'm not in a hurry I'd like to save £2.99 thanks, if you are then feel free to pay it but don't force it on the rest of us please.

I've ordered a lot from CRC and found them extremely reliable. Good company to do business with.

It always surprises me how impatient people are when ordering bike parts.
Break them at the weekend, order new Monday or Tuesday. Receive them Thursday or Friday. Bolt them on and ready to ride Saturday morning.

We're being conditioned to want everything now, now, now. There was a time when anything you bought mail order came with the disclaimer "Please allow 28 days for delivery." And I'm not sure we were any less happy then than we are now.

Called arbitrage. Because they are the same company - same product, same price.

I generally agree most of us work during the week so as long as its there for the weekend all is well. Sometimes though such as in my case I'd fudged up an needed the part quickly for an event that weekend.

CRC's idea of next day delivery is rubbish. I think it confuses the whole system.
No matter what you use, it seems to average out at three days.

They caused me some confusion this last week, I ordered some brakes last Wednesday, received an email advising they had been dispatched that day, then couple of days later I received an email saying they are being dispatched and gave me tracking info, so checked on that and my package didn't seem to get picked up until a day or so after the tracking info had been sent to me, which I didn't understand as thought you only got the tracking info once it was in the system?

Anyway they arrived this morning but I am happy as its supposed to be a warmer weekend so will have them fitted and be out and about Sunday morning :D

Never paid for fast delivery and my average from CRC is between 1 and 2 days.....

Ordered loads from them in the past and they were always on the ball, it now seems to me they think by offering a chargeable priority service will deliver more profit? Why not just have the balls to say no more free delivery but offer great service?
I ordered some parts from San Diego last year and they delivered in three days, still yet to receive my goods from Ireland seven working days later.

Yes but times have changed Amazon and Argos offer same day delivery, surely CRC can deliver within the week?

Depends if it's in stock or not!

They offer free postage still (or at least no extra price, of course you are paying for it in the price of the goods), no need to pay for the 'faster' service.

I've been waiting three months for a CD from Amazon and because the seller keeps marking it as dispatched then changing it to out of stock there's nothing I can do about it but wait.
CRC at least give decent service and it arrives when they say it will.

Amazon is ok when sold or fulfilled by Amazon, bit hit and miss otherwise.

I hate shops but like the internet, so apart from food I do 99.9% of my shopping online. Overall it's amazing.

One day we'll all have 3D printers and for many things all we'll download will be a file and then we'll print out the product.

That's decades away and could only ever work as self assembly. By the time you've bought all the materials you need it would be quicker to get mail order.

It will come. It will start with the simple things like stems and hangers (and similar things in the rest of your life) and then they'll figure out the more complex stuff.

It amazes me, in this day and age, that people still underestimate the march of technology.

My first PC at home had a whole 4k of RAM. And a massive 2gig hard drive. And that wasn't that long ago.

My guess is that Amazon will be the ones to take this idea mainstream.

3d printing will be massive in the next decade and then we'll be able to shoot everyone with our plastic handguns.
