Avid Bleed kit versus cheap and dodgy

Ok people,

I'm pretty sure my brakes need bleeding on my Avid Juicy 4's, as they very nearly packed up on me at the weekend.

Brake lever on full, only just stopping etc etc (bike is eight years old and never been done, oops!).

Anyhow, kits aren't that cheap for something you use once in a blue moon and I have seen some discussions on using cheaper non-avid ones.

So, has anyone used cheaper kits, and are they as good, or do I really need to pay top-dollar for a branded kit?

Have you tried new brake pads? Could also be contamination.
Cheaper bleed kits are absolutely fine, used them before with no issues.

Thanks mate ..... yes, as it happens I changed the pads about three weeks ago.

Any recommendations on the cheaper bleed kits?

Epic bleed kits are better than the genuine Avid kit

+1 Epic bleed kits. Worth getting the one that has the thread connection on the syringe end of the tube to prevent tube blowing off under pressure (corrosive brake fluid in my eyes from using a lesser kit in the past, it stung, a lot)
