"Where's that prick Boonen? He's holding up the photo-op. What do you mean he's not coming?"
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

A good first stage from what twitter says.

Worth following @cyclingbetting who is live tweeting and re-tweeting relevant stuff from @felixmattis and @tourofoman

    Apparently highlights on ES2
  • Not the best start for Titchie Richie - dropped by 5km to go

    Great win for Jungels

It's not on Eurosport live. I'm sure this and Qatar were last year which is not a good sign for both tours.

Oman has never been live that I can remember. Think the authorities are a bit funny about that sort of thing.

It's entirely possible I'm mixing up Dubai and Oman.
  • Porte - after shelling 3:24 to Jungels - says he said all along Oman wasn't a goal, and that P-N is his first big goal

Hmmm. P-N is only 18 days away.

Let's see about Green Mountain then

A lot can change in 18 days, we don't know what he has been doing in the run up to this doesn't it
  • We'll see on Green Mountain. That climb tends to be selective enough, and this year they've added another 2km

If he's been altitude training, he may not have reacclimatised yet.

He's not. Flown to Oman from Oz.

But hey ho, find out soon enough with P-N not far off down the road

Anything above 5'4" is altitude for him

I was thinking more along the lines of him having trained a lot and not bothered to rest up too much, use Oman as training too. Looking at last years prep for Paris Nice it seems that he rode Algarve not long before and wasn't on top, and was 40 somethingth in Oman before he won P-N in 2013, this seems fairly normal

  • Loon, deejay, I was replying to Joel re his question about whether Porte had been training at altitude, not about acclimatising

Anyway, what's the latest in Nuffle World?

It can't be easy leaving the warmth of a Kangaroo's pouch for a sh*tty desert.

There must be close to 30 people watching at the finish line.

Can anyone explain the business model here? Oman looks to have the best of the Arabian scenery, but with zero local interest and very little broadcasting, what's the point?

There's a programme on BIKE at 10pm on Oman. Not sure if it's this year's.

Cheap to host, and a week's worth of tourist adverts.

Blurb on Sky says it's the 5th edition which if correct makes it the 2014 edition.

Daily highlights of 2016 on ES though.

It was this year's but with an Aussie commentator so I switched it off and waited for ES
