Spare wheel for Turbo Trainer

Hi,

I have a Bkool pro trainer and have want to use a 2015 CAADX105 on it bu don't want to change the tyre every time. So I was thinking of a spare wheel with a trainer tyre.

What is the best way to do this? Presumably I don't need the same quality of wheel that I use when I am riding but do I need the disc brake? It's not as though I'm going to brake is it

I'd rather not pay a lot so hopefully a second hand one would do. I've had a look on eBay but I know very little about wheels so couldn't work out what I could use. The current spec is 700c mavic.

Thanks,

Pete

If any wheel will do, just go to the local tip and get one from there.

No need for turbo tyre either - use an old normal one.

  • I think that your disc hub will be 135mm wide whereas non disc hubs are 130mm. You will also need a wheel that has a freehub that suits your cassette (11sp?).

Thinking about it, I have a set of really nice clean disc compatible wheels in the a garage that I have no need for - let me get home and get some details up - probably be £50 the pair plus p & p?

I'll even throw in a tyre and tube as I'm nice :)

They are Alex Rim R475s in black/red. They also have some used but loads of life Continetal Gatorskins on them (something mahoosif like 28s) that I'll chuck in for an extra tenner.

Let me know if you're interested/want piccies.

    Hi Matthew,

They sound good, any chance you'd sell just one? I'm fine for tyres, as you say I can use my old ones :D

Just so I am clear, I can fit a 105 11 speed cassette to it and I'm good to go?

    Cheers

    Pete

One further question, Before I say I have the tyres, will the wheel take a 35c tyre?

Can anyone assist re 11 speed cassette compatability - I only run 9 and 10 speed Shimano.

    Many thanks

Red - do you want to measure your free wheel and I'll measure mine (oooeeerrr) and if they are the same we know we are in the same ball park?
