Hi Guys,

I bought a CAADX Disc frame cheap on Ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/172049072005?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) and am going to build a cyclocross bike around it. If anyone has any suggestions on the most cost effective componets it would be greatly appreciated(I would like a 1x, hydraulic disc brake build).

If I want to go with a 42T 1x crank-set, what are my options? Can you buy a double crank-set and remove/replace the chain ring?

Thank you for any advise or help!

Yes on a double and if you want to go 42T you can use either compact or standard road chainset - assume you'll be replacing with a thick thin ring. I used a standard on my latest build as they tend to go a lot cheaper on Ebay..

I've got a SRAM Force crankset and will be combining it with an Absolute Black thick/thin.
My other bike has old style Shimano 105 cranks with a Race Face thick/thin.
