Morning festive folks and Bally.
I'm at work at the moment, but not exactly doing anything constructive. I've had a cup of tea and some cake, I now have another cup of tea and a different cake. Portuguese King cake, not the best cake I've ever had but the best cake that's on my desk at the moment.
Leaving at lunchtime and going for a swift one on the way home, then wrapping presents. Some of the guys are trying for the 12 pints of Christmas, sounds messy. Some of the Christmas jumpers in evidence are shameful.
Have a good day everyone, with cake if possible.

  • Morning everyone,

Off for a hospital visit shortly, come back for a leisurely lunch and await arrival of sister and family ( she's not 6"2 or blonde but was a looker in her day)

Off out for a meal in the evening so all in all not too bad a Xmas Eve. Glad I got my cycling miles in yesterday in the lovely sunshine. Would attempt the Rapha 500 but to many hours are going to be wasted driving around the country to various relatives post Xmas.

    merry eve all

in addition to too much coffee, i've had a ride between showers, shortly off to collect parcel, then veg out

the day will include crusty bread, cheese, crisps, jamon iberico, salmon in a chilli miso broth with brocolli and noodles for dunking, plain chocolate florentines, and more crisps, plus some biscuits, yum

maybe i should get cake while i'm out

  • Morning all. Been out for a wet and windy spin this morning with my old shop. Glad I went out but wish I had some spare clothes to get into.

    Afternoon festive wasters :)

Its vile here, rain tipping down and 'lean into it' type gusts of wind. We're round at the old folks home seeing the mother in law and trying to explain to her that its Christmas. Hopefully we'll be out of here soon and do a bit of hound walking when the sun comes out. Then there's a bottle of plonk with my name on it for tonight.

All possibility of exercise has been parked for now, which is not good - starting to go a bit cold turkey.

    Happy Christmas Eve all.

Just about to go on a family jaunt to see Star Wars and then on to a pressie drop round the various family members.

Finally back home for a take away tea...Chinese, Indian or Chippy...that is the question?

    Af'noon cake munchers

Done the rounds this morning, now looking at the foliage getting blown around in the gale. Looks like this town is going to be lumbered with unhappy spud munchers who can't get 'across the water' due to Ferry cancellations.
    Feeling better by degrees.

Other than that, have a good one - be it chilli flavoured or otherwise.

    Laters.

  • Good afternoon festive funsters, today has been busy but at a decently sedate pace. Got steak pie on the go in the slow cooker and some nice red to put next to the fire for later.

Port needs opening and a mince pie leaving out for Santa.

Won another round of the 12 days comp so more gifts on the way to HD Towers.

I've not entered the festive 500 as I seriously doubt I'd get anywhere close.

Happy Christmas to all of you who care, bah humbug to all those who only see it for the commercialised racket that it is.

Talking of runs - I had a decent 8 mile off-road run this morning

Since then it's been family stuff and a nice swim, kids are now eating before we go to the pub :)

Home and hurting, need some calories and water (later can be drink)

Will be riding tomorrow. Though fresh kit is needed, this stuff is sodden, warmed up/blue skies after about 4 hours lol.

Granddad, why did you tell us what your sister isn't? I'm lucky in the sense I don't have to worry about the masses of family stuff so I can just ride.
    Enjoy your evenings pleasantries.

Stevo no exercise sounds horrible. the Date won't let me do such a thing as I become a grouch .

Bikes, enjoy the lovely North Sea, just remember you are there for a reason ;0 we all have to pay for our sins.

Don't mind Pinno he lives across the walls up north to avoid certain people, he calls it one thing, we all say hiding.

ILG those little things do matter eh. I was a tad gutted I couldn't make the Cathedral for Carols this year, made worse when I bumped into someone (who I don't know) said oh we didn't see you this year we wondered if you had moved. Nice to be noted though

  • Awright festive felchers.
Proper Chrimbo here. Slept for approx 15 hours last night and as a consequence am exhausted.
Was starting to have a right good old knees up in me local but was evicted so they could set some tables up for "diners" ie people worth more than me. How I laughed when about 20 kids turned up, with parents in tow.
Utter, utter twats. Now back at home drinking anything to hand. Merry Christmas all, and I hope Santa brings you everything you asked for. Unless you have been a bad boy/girl, then I know there is no justice in this world :D

  • Did a four hour shift at work, finished at ten. Came home had a lovely lunch, then off to the local for drinks and great socialising, hand shaking, kissing, back slapping and all that. Great, enjoy the festivities folks. :D

Had a Hungarian Christmas with the wife and kids. Salmon followed by carrot cake - not particularly Hungarian, but my wife doesn't like carp and much to my disappointment she didn't want to make Somloi galuska:

Now trying to summon the courage to wrap presents for the rest of the family tomorrow. Oh, yeah, and write f**king Christmas cards for people I'm going to be seeing on Christmas Day just because they wrote me one.

Got really sweaty shovelling horse shoit then barro loads of mud from in front if the barns. Dropped some cards off to locals (cold comfort farm types). Then celebrated my mum and dads wedding anniversary, as we do every year, loads of roast pork, ham, sea food, salad and pickles washed down with wine, beers...cheese board and trivial pursuits ( still going on while I've come back to prep the turkey). Kids home from uni so all the family around. Laughed at silly photo booth app distorting all our features...My favourite day of the Xmas period. Feeling like a stuffed turkey myself already. Have a cracking Christmas everyone!

Same to you Quins. Don't make this visit an annual event and there's no need to wipe clean the Wellies when entering the Bottom Bracket.

Not up to the usual standard I'm afraid. It was just very good rather than excellent. I never eat tiramisu in restaurants as it's so disappointing compared to my mother's.

If you gave me some, I would just say "It's not like my mother makes". Viscous circle.
