Just bought a HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 10 and the internet seems to be a bit slow compared to my previous laptop. In particular when streaming things like You Tube or iPlayer. Anyone else experienced this? Any ideas? I tried using Chrome rather than Explorer which was a little quicker, but not much. Any ideas anyone?

    Try updating wifi drivers

disable background services, such as ms update services p2p under win update

I don't have an issue but I remeber when I upgraded it took an age to download this, upload that and generally sell my soul and naked selfies to google/anonymous so it might need a day or two to sort itself out

W10 seems to be more affected by the multitude of scripts that run on the back of web sites, and the dialogues that go on between client & server.

My W10 speeded up hugely when I replaced the hosts file with the one supplied from this place: http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm

Made a huge difference, and still does. You can easily edit it to add your own entries, and check that all IPs are set to 0.0.0.0 and not sneakily connecting elsewhere.
  • OK, thanks everyone. Gives me a few things to try out.
