Cycling the tunnel takes more time than crossing the road.
Therefore there is more time for accidents to occur.

Disagree. Weigh your answer by the probability of the "offender" getting into an accident given that cyclists are a lot more used to looking out for hazards than pedestrians.0 -

I have been crossing roads with cars as a pedestrian for 50 years with a 100% safety record.
I think I could handle a cycle lane quite easily.

Encountered similar at a Pelican crossing. Lights went to amber as I approached so stopped, yes I'm one of those who do
, and waited for the sequence of green man etc to go through which it did and the pedestrian was still stood at the roadside looking at their phone. Once the red man came back on they looked up at the lights. I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

There are very few occasions in my life where I encounter the red mist. People shuffling along with their head in their phones is one of those. Drives me flippin mad. I read somewhere ages ago that they are making a seperate pavement lane to use your phone in - Korea I think....although I might have read it in the Mash...Waterloo - White City
