The Radon. Pikes are far better than Fox 32's
I like cube bikes, good value usually.....but I agree with the above. I hated my Fox 32's.it looks a bit steep to me.....0 -
Yeah the Fox 32 with fit4 should be very good. Also the main frame on the cube is Carbon. I dont really Like the cubes wheels though - Inner rim width is only 19mm.0

Pikes are still far better than a 32.. a 32 is super flexi.. a 34 would be something to compare against.0

Thanks for all your answers - I think im gonna roll with the Radon, does anyone have any experience with radon FS bikes?0

Neither. Very basic frames with good kit bolted on doesn't make a great bike.
I would go for a Giant Trance instead. Much better frame and reasonable kit.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

would love to know why they are basic frames0 -
Fairly ropey rear suspension, too linear and wallowey. Also, the Cube flexes like a bitch, I was genuinely surprised when I tried my mates Stereo.
The Radon frame is straight out of a catalogue and not great quality.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

how do you know its ropey and too linear/wallowey. thats not a stereo and where is the proof that the radon frame is out of a catalogue and not great quality. seems like you have a mate that has owned every possible bike at one time or another.0 -
Read the UK reviews, the stereo is often criticized for being wallowy (as are many German bikes), it because our typical usage differs to the typical German 'trecking' usage. Note the similarity in rear suspension layout of the two.
I understand the Rose frames are Merida and as such they are catalogue parts assembled into a frame to match BD's requirements, not necessarily bad, but not 'bespoke' either.
I too would rather have a Maestro rear, that said a regular on my club rides has a Stereo and they love it but they tend to do mostly low technicality XC riding where the linear rear works well, and they don't ride at all 'hard'.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

Like the OP, you are referring to Radon not Rose, I take it? Would Radon's Carbon versions be picked from Merida's catalogue also? Some of those are over £3k. I know many companies take Merida's catalogue frames to build on, and that's not utterly terrible, but that seems a tad naff at that price point.Family, Friends, Fantastic trails - what else is there

No idea where the Carbon's come from but they will be outsourced and may well share features with other similar framed bikes or even be the same frame.
Sorry for the typo, yes I meant Radon as per the OP.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
If I had £3k to spend then Radon would be at the bottom of the list. You can get a carbon framed Giant Trance at that price or a whole load of seriously great aluminium framed bikes.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

You can't get a trance for 3k - besides the cheapest trance has S h i t gear and 10 speed drivetrain.
Anyways im considering a Specialized Comp Carbon 29 if i can push my LBS a little bit and get it down to about 3k.0 -

Carbon Trance for £3k. That frame is so good it's well worth the lower spec components.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Here is a normal Trance with somewhat better components:
http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Giant-Trance-27-5-1-Mountain-Bike-2015-Full-Suspension-MTB_73878.htm
I definitely recommend getting a bike from last year (2015), you can just get amazing deals on all of them (I just ordered a Trance 3 2015, planning to upgrade stuff as it goes)-Cube Acid 29" 2013
-A new Giant Trance 3 2015!0 -
Unless you are not stuck on 29" and are happy with a bit more travel, this ticks a number of boxes. Rose Uncle Jimbo http://factoryjackson.com/2015/07/24/rose-bikes-2016-range-our-top-picks/
If you want less travel but a similar spec, scroll down for the Granite Chief.
Friends have the Trance of varying specs in 2015 guise and they really like them - but they had 2010 versions.Family, Friends, Fantastic trails - what else is there
