Not sunny here :( I got soaked on this mornings ride as I attempted to cleanse my body of the ale from last nights fireworks party. Bizarre part last night was watching little kids walk past car porn such a c-type to look at the 'back to the future' car!

Today is celebrating my birthday a day early, as I'm out early doors tomorrow. So the parents are over later for wine and food

    Af'noon

    Sunny? Funny

Wet wet wet. Here. Toots are happy after 'big bang bang' last night for their first time and up late this morning which meant I got a lie in till 8am! Lucky me.

    Laters.

Happy birthday TLW. Out of interest, how old is your liver? :)

Took hound for a walk, popped down to Waitrose had free coffee and appreciated the Sunday girls, had bacon & eggs for lunch so not a bad morning :) Now listening to the footy and dossing while Stropteen is riding gee-gees'. Unfortunately it's a 5 day week this week but at least I'll get some pedalling done.

lashed it down this morning, dragged myself out for a ride with some club mates. Ended up leaving them as the pace was slow and I was getting colder n colder. Was not what I wanted after a few too many glasses of wine in Gusto last night

Good walk later though with the dogs.

On a cycling note what do worn disc pads look like?

People like your wife and not you?

No idea. I usually find another stick when it gets worn out. Sometimes I even change the string that attaches it to the frame.

@TLW. Can't think of anything except that people are probably reluctant to buy rounds when you are about on account of the cost and number rounds.

Horrible day in the middle of the country today.
Treated myself to an hour or so on the turbo this morning then off to see 2 generations of family, who says there is no such thing as a free lunch :-)

  • Well it was Sunday, but it wasn't sunny.

I went for my second ride in a month - I've been going progressively more and more stir-crazy with a bad foot that finally seems to be improving. The first ride a fortnight ago made the foot a lot worse and I was in a lot of pain for several days. I was even contemplating going swimming, and I feckin hate swimming.

6 miles (the long sort) at an average of a stunning 13.8 mph (yes, I thought you'd be impressed - in my defence there were a lot of red traffic lights for a short route).

Let's hope I haven't made it worse again...

    Thin :)

as in bare or just thin? 've got some rounded corners, and it could explain why there were stopping problems yesterday

Worn is just thin but you still have some visible meat on the pad. If there is none visible then you may be grinding metal and scoring the discs (edit: this will usually be audible and noticeable in reduced braking performance)

Never really looked at shape, just thickness of pad.

13.8 mph using one foot is pretty impressive, 27mph with two :D hope the foot gets better.

Swimming is feckin awful (and wet) but it's feckin good for you when you are recovering. Going stir crazy because of the weather last Friday and I ended up swimming half a mile. I was feckin goosed afterwards having not done it for a while.

We'll cheer you up but we won't cure any mental impairments due to not cycling much and look on the bright side - you have done twice as many miles as Stevo (and twice as fast) this month.
