Carbon Fork Plug

As its starting to get colder and wetter, I am going out more on the winter bike keeping the Summer one for dry days only.

Something I want to address which I had ignored up til now is plugging up the fork where it joins the Alu Steerer. I know this is the main reason the race bearings get rusted up to hell and although I do grease and keep everything running as smooth as possible I always believe prevention is better than cure.

What solutions have people used to any deal of success to stopping water ingress into the steerer tube?

I have tried using gaffer tape inside but eventually the water peals it off. I would prefer something a bit more durable if possible.

Cheers
