I tried retiring, it was p1ss boring. Didn't fancy getting old too soon

I haven't needed to work at all for the last ten years.
I am now thinking, and I must thank you all for the constant reminders, of retiring...I don't have much on next week so I thought this would be a good time to pick. I have set the date of 25th. I will be 62.
What should I do with all that spare time I'm going to gain
You would choose working over a lottery win (or any windfall) and travelling/cycling/partying/spending time with friends & family/........your choice.
Strange.
Not that strange really. People work for a variety of reasons save just remuneration. The striving, sense of achievement, banter, buzz, company and sheer enjoyment to name a few.

I would rather do it with friends of my choice than people who happen to be employed in the same place.

I used to get a sense of achievement and pride in a well created work. Clicking a mouse just doesn't give that. Most people in my office wear headphones to listen to the radio or music. Progress?The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Get out on the bike even more and also see more of the world. I retired early (very!) about 5 years ago and still don't know how I found the time to go to work when I had to. Unfortunately, Mrs Ayjaycee is a fair bit younger than me and can't finish work until the pension pot has reached a decent size - there are some advantages to being older!Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra

I retired at 53 (now 58), busier than when I was working. Cycling, fishing, boating, shooting, seeing relatives (usually at weekends as they still work). Best thing is you can cycle through the winter as mid day/early afternoons are free, no dark cold mornings for me.
