I am building a winter bike around a new Sora 9 speed group set I have. The frame needs long reach brakes.Ribble are doing Shimano R451 long reach pairs for £23.99 at the moment. It lists the levers that you require to get the correct pull. The Sora aren't on the long list but they look and feel just like the old 105 10 speed ones with the cables coming out of the side of the top of the levers which are on the list. Will they do the job I want without any problems.

I'm sure they'll be fine. Maybe not absolutely optimal as the Shimano compatibility guide suggests, but perfectly functional.

I have mixed and matched BR450 calipers with 10 sp 105 5600 STI's and with 9 sp Tiagra 4500 STI's and can feel no difference. Nor do they feel any different from the standard drop Tiagra calipers.

They are fine, I've got BR450s on my Sora equipped commuter.
