Hello,

After many weeks Im still struggling to find a bike that I like.

Im 6'6 - 17 stone.

Budget 2.5-3k.

So I know I definitely need a 23 inch frame. Problem is many manufacturers simply don't make a 23 inch.

I don't mind on 27.5 or 29. So far options are Trek fuel, Norco, Whyte t-129 & specialised. Mainly in the 29.

How many 650b 23 inch frames are out there? Does anyone have any other makes/models that can help me out?
At the moment its looking like the whyte t-129 RS comes out in a few weeks. Rear tyre is 2inch wide compared to the fronts 2.25? Most other specs ive looked at for 29er's they are using 2.3 on rear.
Any ideas why Whyte might have gone to 2" rear? (I am new so sorry if this sounds daft)

Any bike which is 23 inch frame and full sus please comment so I can have a look online.
Will really help me out before just going with the whyte.
Thanks

  • The Enduro is a bit of a tank. How about a Stumpjumper?
Trek always used to be good for XL bikes.

It's frame length that matters not the nominal and rathe irrelevant seat tube length, with the propensity for dropper posts many bikes are now longer for the nominal size, so you may find a 22 or even 21" is just fine, just you'll have a lot of seatpost showing.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
  • Unless you have long legs, then seat tube length is important. A couple friends struggle to find moder frames with a long enough seat tube to get full saddle height even using a 420mm dropper post.
  • This is the problem I have long legs :/. My dad rides a trek rumble fish 23inch frame and I can ride that pretty sweet.

I think its either the whyte t-129RS or specialised enduro fsr elite 29.
    Does anyone have/ride an enduro?

  • Are you really going to ride gnarly enough trails to make it worth suffering the climbs on a 160mm travel, heavy bike?
The Whyte would be much better for most UK riding.
